Invisible Thread is a multi-layered programme of work including outdoor performances and participatory arts experiences for mothers and babies up to 12 months old, that aim to have a positive effect on maternal wellbeing. First piloted in 2019, we are delighted to be adapting this project to take place outdoors in Gloucestershire and South Bristol in Spring 2021, in response to the enormous stresses placed on pregnant women and new mothers by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Invisible Thread has four interwoven elements:
1. Outdoor park performances The Invisible Thread shows are an intimate, calming, circus-concert for 12 mothers and their babies. Performed by a circus artist and 2 musicians, these 20 minute performances will take place in parks and open spaces in Gloucestershire and Bristol throughout March 2021. 2. Doorstep shows This will be a mini version of the Invisible Thread shows, performed on doorsteps, in cul-de-sacs and outside blocks of flats to mothers of any age and their babies, families and neighbours. |
3. Outdoor wellbeing groups for mothers and babies up to 12 months
From January - March 2021 we are running six weekly wellbeing groups in Gloucestershire and Bristol for mothers and babies up to 12 months old. Using creative activities, walking and lots of chat, these groups aim to improve the wellbeing of you and your baby. For more information and how to book click here. 4. Bracelet making activity For crafty mothers everywhere! We are preparing an activity pack and instruction video demonstrating how you can make bracelets that we will distribute to the mothers we meet during this project, as a physical representation of the invisible threads that connect communities of mothers around the world. Keep watching this page to find out how you can get involved. |
