What can I enjoy in the show if I don't understand the story?
● You might enjoy the design of our set and costumes. They are very colourful and the window on the back wall changes colour!
● You might enjoy the music. Some of it is recorded and the drumming is live. There are some songs too.

If I don't understand speech or don’t speak English, what do I get out of your show?
A lot of the story is told using bodies instead of words, so there is a good chance you might still know what’s going on. The show has lots of slapstick and visual humour.
If I am d/Deaf or hard of hearing, what do I get from your show?
We use a blend of British Sign Language, Sign Supported English and Visual Vernacular alongside any spoken words. We hope you’ll also enjoy the visual humour, physical story-telling and acrobatic parts of the show.
If I am blind or partially sighted, what do I get from your show?
There is a lot of music, some of which is live. There aren’t many words, so you might want a friend or family member to describe what’s happening on the stage to you. Audiences never have to be quiet during our shows.

If loud, sudden noises, surprises or 'jumpy moments' frighten me badly, would I be able to be an audience member?
If you are sensitive to loud noise you might want to bring some ear defenders with you, as the drumming is pretty noisy! You are also welcome to leave and come back again, or watch from the back of the theatre or another place where you feel safe.
Do I have to participate in your show? If yes, what do I have to do?
● There are a couple of instances when the performers come into the audience. If you don’t want them to come near you you can tell them and they will go away again.
● At the end of the show there are some big sheets of silver foil that get passed around the audience, over everybody’s heads. It’s quite noisy underneath but quite exciting too! If you don’t want to do that, you could leave your seat just before they get given out and stand at the side and watch instead.
● After this happens, the performers throw some inflatable beach balls into the audience, which get passed around over people’s head. You might get to touch one, but you might not - it’s difficult to tell where they’ll go! You can either stay in your seat for this, or again you might prefer to watch this from a different part of the theatre.
And finally...
If it would help your family to enjoy the event more, Can’t Sit Still is very happy to provide an archive recording of the performance for you to watch in advance of coming to the live show. If this is something that you’d find useful, please email [email protected].

Can’t Sit Still would like to say thank you to z-arts in Manchester for their template that led to the development of this resource.
Coming to the theatre can sometimes feel like quite a big experience, and we understand that there are lots of people who might want to know what they can expect, before they arrive. We've created this series of access videos to introduce you to the three performers in our company, and tell you a bit about what they do. In this video you'll meet Rob, who plays the role of George.
